Why Salt and Light?

While my background has given me strong training, the true purpose behind this studio is much deeper. My goal is to reflect the light and life God has brought into my own journey and to create a space where others feel uplifted, encouraged, and confident through dance and even a belief that dance can be a life-giving experience for everyone.

My Story

I grew up in a loving, close-knit family, but my preteen years brought an unexpected struggle. I battled severe depression, reaching a point that deeply concerned those around me. In that season, God met me where I was and began restoring hope in a way I never expected.

That restoration started simply. After my sister invited me to play a game of Just Dance, I was introduced to ballroom dancing. I began taking classes at twelve, and for the first time in a long while, I felt joy, purpose, and confidence return. Dance became more than movement — it became a place where God brought light back into my life.

As my passion grew, so did my dream of becoming a professional dancer. That dream was often met with discouragement. I was told it was unrealistic and far too expensive. For a time, I believed those voices. But as my faith grew, I learned to quiet the outside noise and trust that if God placed a dream in my heart, He would make a way.

At fifteen, I transferred to a new studio and found community among dancers my own age who competed and supported one another. I learned that the path I had once been told was impossible was never out of reach.

Family has always been central to my life, and I never imagined leaving Michigan. But at twenty-one, I was approached at a competition with an opportunity that held everything I had dreamed of. Trusting God’s leading, I packed up my life and moved to California.

That season came with many trials — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Training far from home tested my faith, perseverance, and resilience. Through those challenges, I trained under World Champion dancers, competed professionally, and was humbled to receive Top Female Teacher honors at multiple events. None of it came easily, but every step strengthened my trust in God’s guidance.

Becoming a dance teacher — let alone opening my own studio — was never part of my plan. Yet God works in ways far beyond our expectations. Today, my passion is to reflect the light God brought into my life through dance and to create a space where others feel safe, confident, and encouraged to grow and pursue the dreams placed within them.
